“My Internet is so slow.” “I can’t stream video from my laptop to my phone.” “My tablet won’t connect to my router.” These are just a few of the many common problems users experience with their home networks and wireless connections. Internet problems can come in many forms. The usual suspects are viruses, spyware, modem, router, networking issues, or computer hardware malfunctions.
As a rule of thumb, if you are having internet problems you should restart your modem, router, and computer to resolve any minor glitches on your home network and wait a few minutes before trying to reconnect.  Make sure that all of your cables are secured tightly on your modem, router, and computer if applicable.  If you are running from a wireless connection make sure you are still connected to your wireless network.

Bad Network Equipment

If your modem, router, cables, or network card on your computer have malfunctioned or become damaged they will need to be replaced.

Firewall

A firewall establishes a barrier between a trusted, secure internal network and another network (ex. the internet) that is not assumed to be secure and trusted.  A firewall, if configured correctly, will stop intruders from accessing your computer and all your personal information.  If your firewall is setup incorrectly, it could be blocking you from getting out to the internet, your printer, or even stop you from using certain programs on your own computer.

Browser Hijacking

If you are connecting to web pages that you did not intend to then most likely your browser has been hijacked by a virus or some form of Malware and it will need to be fully removed before you’ll be able to surf the web normally. Whatever the problem may be, I’m here to hunt it down and get it fixed.
